| Strain description |
Knockout mice of Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (Ace2). An entire coding sequence of the Ace2 gene on X chromosome in 57BL/6N mice was removed by CRISPR/Cas9 system using TAKE method with Cas9 proteins and two guide RNAs targeting 5’- and 3’-UTRs of the gene. These mice are useful for studies of hypertension and new coronaviruses. For example, it is possible to cross human Ace2-Tg mice (Ace2-Tg#5,Ace2-Tg#16,Ace2-Tg#17) with the Ace2-KO mice to produce mice whose Ace2 molecules are humans only. |
