| Strain description |
There are seven types of ligands that bind to the epidermal growth factor (EGF) receptor, and they are classified into high-affinity molecules (EGF, transforming growth factor α (TGF-α), betacellulin (BTC), heparin-binding EGF-like growth factor (HBEGF)) and low-affinity molecules (epiregulin (EREG), epigen (EPGN), amphiregulin (AREG)). The Ereg-/- mice are knockout mice for the low-affinity ligand EREG, created using genome editing, and were used as a tool to study their involvement in skin wound repair (Ref. 1). |
