| Strain description | This strain expresses the ficocyanin bilin (PCB) synthase (SynPCB) gene in a Cre-dependent manner. It also lacks biliverdin reductase (Blvra, see B6N Albino-Blvra-/-), an enzyme that breaks down PCBs, and therefore accumulates high levels of PCBs. |

| Genotyping information | Genotypes are determined by fluorescence on the body surface. The lox-synPCB mice express mCherry fluorescence throughout the body. Under green light (around 560 nm), mice with mCherry fluorescence (around 610 nm) are Blvra-/- SynPCB mice, and mice without mCherry fluorescence are Blvra-/- mice. If the mice have Cre enzymes, the red fluorescent protein is replaced by the blue fluorescent protein. |
