| Strain description |
A mouse strain in which Bloc1s6, one of the genes responsible for Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome (HPS), is knocked out by genome editing (CRISPR/Cas9). It was created by deleting the coding sequence near the 5'-end with two gRNAs to the Bloc1s6 gene. Homozygous KO mice have a paler coat color than C57BL/6N wild-type mice (B6 mice, see photos). The strain is expected to be used as an HPS model. Bloc1s6-KO mice often exhibit torticollis, maybe due to abnormal otolith formation (Erway et al., 1971). |
